Tudor Arch Spandrel Carving No. 6
A portcullis is a heavy timber or metal grill lowered to protect the castle gate or main entryway. A spandrel that contained a portcullis was usually used to identify the Front Door of the Tudor building. This custom made Portcullis motif Tudor Arch Spandrel carving is made from stained, rift sawn white oak. It is a component of our Tudor Arch Doorway system. This carving was created from a photograph of a building doorway in Oxford, England. Our technology allows us to create almost any relief carving pattern from either a sample, photograph, engraving, sketch or line drawing.
Spandrel carvings can be made from any available domestic or imported hardwood. We do not recommend softwoods such as pine. Spandrel carvings can be made from MDF for a painted finish. Items can be shipped completely sanded ready for installation and on site finishing, or we can ship pre-finished according to your finish specifications.
