Teak Field Chest
This field chest was made for a US Army officer who heads up a mine demolition unit and spends much of his time living out of an army tent. He wanted a beautifully functional cabinet that could be left to his children. Teak was selected because of its resistance to insects and decay. The drawers are composed of 6 rows. The bottom two rows are full width drawers. The third row up is comprised of two half-width drawers. This pattern is repeated in the top three rows. The polished brass hardware is all flush mounted. The carcass is assembled with hand cut through dovetail and sliding dovetail joints. This beautiful chest is finished with multiple coats of tung oil.
